Choosing where to connect

How much does server distance cost me?

Each request travels from your device to our server, on to the website, then all the way back. A server one city over barely changes that. A server on another continent can tack about 250 ms onto every trip, which is why a fast home line can suddenly feel slow.

Your server choice is also what websites read as your location. They get the server's IP instead of your real IP, so a Frankfurt server makes you look like a visitor in Germany.

Not sure where to connect first?

For everyday browsing, go with the city nearest to you; it's nearly always the fastest. A service that is locked to one country wants a server located in it. On a trip, picking a server back home keeps your bank and other local services working like usual.

A few services go out of their way to refuse VPN traffic. Matching the country improves your odds, though we can't say every service will let you in.

Are some cities limited to bigger passes?

No. Basic, Plus and Pro all open the full list of 62 cities in 44 countries. Hop between them whenever you like, with no count kept and nothing added to the bill.

Pro also comes with a dedicated IP, an address no other account shares. You pick its country in the cart before you pay, from ten options: South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia, the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France or the Netherlands.

Common questions

How often am I allowed to change servers?

Switch any number of times. Disconnect, pick another city and reconnect. Switching is free and takes nothing off your term.

Which server will be quickest?

Usually the nearest city. When it isn't, a neighboring city in the same country or a switch to WireGuard tends to fix it. Comparing two or three cities at the same time of day gives you a fair picture.

Why does the same server feel faster at some hours?

Evening traffic is heavier, both on the server and on your provider's route to that country. A city that's quick in the morning can slow down at 9 p.m., so having a second choice nearby helps.

Can you add a country that isn't listed?

Write to us from My info > Contact us; that tab works even without an active VPN pass. Countries people ask for come first when we plan new servers.
