Is a VPN worth it for you?
When does a VPN actually help?
On hotel, airport and cafe Wi-Fi, you share the network with strangers, and whoever runs it can watch the traffic. With VPNPass connected, everything from your device to our server is encrypted. The network, and your internet provider at home, only see that you're connected to VPNPass.
It also helps when you're abroad and a service from home needs a local IP, or when you'd rather sites saw a server's address than your real IP.
What can't a VPN do?
Once you sign in to a site, it knows the account is yours whatever IP it sees. A VPN won't remove malware already on your device either, so keep your system updated and be careful what you download.
Some governments limit VPN use or ban it outright, so check the rules at your destination before the trip. Turning on a VPN doesn't change what the law allows.
Common questions
Is it worth turning on at home?
It comes down to who you'd rather not have watching. Your home provider can log the sites you open. With the VPN on, it only sees encrypted traffic to us. If it doesn't matter to you, turning it on for public Wi-Fi and trips abroad is enough.
Do I need a VPN for online banking?
The banking session itself is already encrypted with HTTPS. Where a VPN earns its place is on shared Wi-Fi: the person running the hotspot can no longer tell which sites you visit. Should the bank's app reject the VPN, put just that app on the split tunneling list.
Will a foreign streaming service work?
We can't guarantee it. Streaming platforms block VPN ranges on and off, and what works this month may not next month. Pick a server in the country whose catalog you want. No luck? A different city in that country sometimes plays.
Can the VPN run from morning to night?
Yes. With no cap on data or speed, VPNPass is fine to keep running for the whole day. When a single app misbehaves on the VPN, keep the connection up and move that app out with split tunneling.
