What's on the TV screen?
Open the app and your last location sits in the middle, next to a big connect tile. Below it, cities are grouped by region. If your remote has a microphone, say a country name to search.
You also get split tunneling on the TV app. For example, a single foreign streaming app can go through the tunnel while everything else on the TV stays on your home internet.
Which settings work best on a TV?
Use WireGuard. It asks less of the processor than OpenVPN, and on a budget streaming stick that can be the difference between smooth and choppy video.
Switch on connect at startup so the TV goes back on the VPN by itself after a power cut or restart.
Video keeps buffering
Moving to a closer city often helps, either near your home or near the streaming service. If the TV is on Wi-Fi, an Ethernet cable often helps more than any change in the app.
No setting for apps from unknown sources? Many TVs keep it under Device Preferences > Security & restrictions, and the TV manual covers the rest.
